21 Feb 2025
Boosting its safety credentials and accelerating business growth, Pick Everard has expanded its health and safety (H&S) team, welcoming two senior hires as it strengthens its position as one of the largest H&S teams within a UK consultancy.
Taking the position of director of health and safety, Mark Allen brings 11 years of experience and expertise in Construction, Design, and Management (CDM), particularly as a Principal Designer.
In his new role, Mark will focus on developing industry-leading processes, strengthening collaboration within the fast-growing team, and establishing additional regional teams. Mark will also support Pick Everard’s National Building Safety Act and Building Regulations Principal Designer team with its growth plans.
“I was drawn to Pick Everard by its impressive clientele and ambitious growth plans. As a multidisciplinary consultancy, it provides me with an opportunity to collaborate across disciplines and bring together expertise from different sectors.
Having worked in local authority, residential, retail, healthcare, and heritage sectors, I look forward to applying my experience to support the team’s continued growth and success.”

Joining alongside Mark is Simon Carey, who steps into the role of senior health and safety consultant. With over 15 years of experience, Simon began his career at Severn Trent Water before leading building safety compliance across estates, covering fire safety, electrical, asbestos, and mechanical compliance.
He brings a holistic approach to health and safety, with expertise spanning utilities, heritage construction, and occupational and behavioural safety.
“Pick Everard has such a diverse portfolio of work and I’m excited for the variety of projects my new role brings.
Health and safety plays a crucial role throughout the lifecycle of a project – particularly in those challenging moments where clear, informed guidance is needed. With the combined expertise of Pick Everard’s health and safety team, we are well-equipped to tackle any challenges and set high industry standards.”

The two appointments bring Pick Everard’s health and safety team to 35 specialists, highlighting the firm’s rapid sector growth.
The consultancy is also heavily investing in upskilling its existing team, with several members recently undergoing extensive training with the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) and the Association for Project Safety (APS). This strategic growth is set to extend Pick Everard’s geographical reach, particularly across London, the North and South-West.
“Mark and Simon’s appointments are a key part of our 2025 growth strategy and to strengthen and diversify our health and safety offering.
With their expertise, we’re reinforcing Pick Everard’s position as one of the largest health and safety consultancies in the UK – and we’re not planning to stop there. We plan to further expand our capabilities in the coming months to meet growing demand and continue to support our clients with industry-leading health and safety solutions.”
