Pick Everard has appointed Claire Rosset as Architecture Director in Scotland, strengthening the practice’s multidisciplinary offer across the nation and accelerating the growth of its Glasgow team.
Claire brings more than 25 years’ industry experience and over 20 years post-qualification. She joins after just under eight years at BakerHicks, where she served as Head of Architecture for Scotland. Her portfolio spans life sciences, defence, power and healthcare, with a particular specialism in complex custodial environments for the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and the Scottish Prison Service (SPS).
“It is very exciting to be able to set up the architectural team in Scotland,” says Claire. “While it’s clearly a challenge, it’s one that I relish and I’m delighted to be forging a path for a truly full multi-discipline offering in Scotland.”
Earlier in her career, Claire worked in London and Glasgow with BMJ Architects, specialising in healthcare and life sciences. She delivered projects for clients including the University of Warwick, King’s College London, and King’s College Hospital. Among her notable schemes are the Mechanochemical Cell Biology Building at Warwick, recognised with industry awards and the Critical Care Unit at King’s College Hospital, a major, highly serviced environment demanding meticulous coordination and design clarity.
Working with her previous company within justice, Claire helped to secure planning permission for HMP Glasgow, a significant milestone she is proud to see continuing at Pick Everard. Her approach to custodial design is grounded in human-centred thinking: “Designing a prison is like designing a village, with housing, education, healthcare and workplaces all rolled into one. It provides an exceptional breadth of experience across sectors.”
A committed mentor and team leader, Claire sees people development as central to her role. “Some of my greatest achievements have been celebrating my team’s accomplishments, supporting colleagues through professional exams, new qualifications and the next steps in their careers is particularly rewarding.”
In her new position, Claire will focus on growing the Glasgow architectural team, deepening collaboration with Pick Everard’s engineering and consultancy disciplines, and enhancing delivery for clients across healthcare, education, science and innovation, defence and justice.
