Taking place in October each year, National Mentoring Day was launched to celebrate the importance and benefits mentoring plays in assisting an individual’s personal development. In support of this year’s event, Pick Everard Learning & Development Advisor, Tasmin Chamberlain, discusses some of those benefits and is excited to announce the launch of our new national mentoring programme next month!

Many of us are already aware of the benefits of having a mentor, either in our professional or personal life. Having that person who can act as our sounding board and as a supporter is invaluable as we progress and develop through our lives. National Mentoring Day is a powerful reminder of the benefits of mentoring and how it can shape individuals. I believe that it is important to remember that mentoring is vital to all, not just young people or those at the beginning of their career.

Pick Everard has been dedicated to supporting all our employees through professional and personal development for many years and has consistently and successfully mentored many of our staff during the early stages of their careers to achieve memberships to professional bodies or qualifications.

To tie into this week’s National Mentoring Day, this is the perfect opportunity to announce that we are launching The Pick Everard RISE (Reaching, Inspiring, Supporting in Excellence) Programme in November. The programme is the firm’s first national mentoring programme and will enable all of our employees, across all our regions and offices, to access a mentor if they require one. The programme will provide an opportunity for employees to access vital learning and development across disciplines and locations, creating a more collaborative environment.

Through implementing the RISE programme, we are putting a stronger focus on the development of our people, to further demonstrate our commitment to individual career development and progression.

The RISE programme will be drawing upon the skills and expertise of our leadership team and we will match the requests we receive from our people, with the skills outlined by our leadership mentors. We recognise that we have a lot that we can learn from each other and from our growing talent density as an organisation. We also think it is important to have a mentoring scheme that maximises our shared experiences of Being Pick Everard.

We are looking forward to some successful new mentoring connections and we are pleased to have announced the RISE programme internally during National Mentoring Day. Look out for more news on how we are progressing as we share our success and learning from the programme in the future.
