What made you pursue a career in learning and development?
I studied BA (Hons) Events Management at Cardiff Metropolitan University and whilst I thoroughly enjoyed my course, I established towards the end of completion, that I didn’t want to work in the events industry for the rest of my life. When I discovered the world of L&D I felt that I had finally found the type of career I was looking for. I gain job satisfaction from supporting others and seeing them grow, both professionally and personally.
What is your role at Pick Everard?
I am Pick Everard’s Learning & Development Advisor, and part of the People & Culture Team. I support the Practice’s 600+ employees with all aspects of learning, from apprenticeships and charterships, creating and delivering virtual and in-person training sessions, and designing programmes and.
This week is national Learning at Work Week and this year’s theme is ‘Learning Uncovered’ – what does that mean to you?
For me, the theme is about everyone being able to uncover their learning potential and adapting our mindsets as to what learning is and how to access it. Learning enriches us all, enhances our wellbeing and brings happiness.
Why do you think personal development is so important?
Having goals to aspire to, no matter how big or small, can help to ensure that we stay motivated to creating the life and career that we want. We are all constantly learning through a variety of resources, whether this be via reading, formal education or from our peers and leaders. By enhancing our knowledge, skills and abilities, we are able to become the best versions of ourselves.
