Our key focus is to craft the most appropriate consultancy service for our clients, offering an integrated team that delivers excellence in everything we do. We are determined and motivated to provide a positive impact in the role we undertake in the delivery of projects throughout the built environment.

Deliver Better Together

We do this by ensuring that we constantly imagine, explore, and create to deliver exemplar projects with an unrivalled integrated consultancy service. Our design and management services teams serve our key commitments to clients, communities, and the environment, offering a collaborative and holistic approach to project delivery tailored to our clients’ needs and ambitions.

In our design delivery, we always seek to design places that have a positive impact on people. We want to create places and spaces that are inspirational and provide an environment that is uplifting, promoting positive health and wellbeing for end-users who will live, work, or play there.

This can be a major public realm regeneration project or a new education facility, but in any instance, we apply the same careful consideration to achieve something unique and special within the project parameters.

This requires collaboration across the whole service offering at Pick Everard, making sure that our design and management team are working side-by-side to achieve the same goals for the client. Our ability to deliver an exemplar client service coupled with great solutions consistently is critical to achieving our business goals.

National Design Director David Shaw said: “Our agenda is to deliver projects with passion and creativity combining skill and knowledge to develop the best design outcomes via engagement and collaboration.

“Great design is transformational for communities, improving wellbeing and creating environments that improve our daily experience. This is something we are hugely passionate about and works towards numerous social value outcomes including levelling up goals, general improved wellbeing, sustainability initiatives and local economic spend.

“Engagement will always be key to this – putting the client’s aims front and centre of identifying the desired outcomes. A project is multifaceted with different stakeholder requirements and objectives and in some instances, these may not align. Our role via briefing and design development is to listen and understand the needs and drivers of each stakeholder – and with that information we can then create a solution that benefits all parties.

“A clear example of this would be when we are designing a major ‘one public’ estate facility that combines multiple functions and occupants. It’s crucial in this instance that we engage to understand the end-users’ functional and spatial requirements, how they interface with each user typology and then design collectively to deliver an uncompromised solution.”

The coming years will be crucial in tackling the climate crisis and in meeting governmental net zero carbon targets – and the built environment had a huge responsibility when it comes to this. Some may say this starts with building design and we can have a positive impact on reducing both embodied and operational emissions, working towards a truly net zero society.

David said: “We know that sustainability and building performance plays a key role in well-considered design, so we collaborate across the business to make sure all the key considerations are taken into account from the concept stage of any design. This is not limited to architects and engineers but involves our management services team such as cost consultancy, which play a key role in delivering high-quality, low-carbon designs managed within the client’s budget.

“Sustainability and the journey to net zero carbon is significant to the business and we benefit from the skills and knowledge of our sustainability and energy team. We are also undertaking business-wide training and upskilling to meet the climate emergency challenges to provide best guidance and advice to our clients from all areas of the business.

“We know that our multi-disciplinary set up and collaboration across all services is our biggest strength and will be the key to delivering a better future. Teamed with our national capability with local service empowers us to deliver positive and lasting impact wherever we work.

“Whether we are engaged as a fully-integrated design team, or as a single design service, we collaborate with a collective culture, passion and ethos that drives us to deliver better outcomes for our clients, communities and the environment alike.”
