Just before the summer finally gave way to autumn some of the Pick Everard team braved the elements to complete some litter picking at the Cairngorm Funicular site and surrounding area.

The day was planned with a walk to Ben Macdui with litter picking along the route but in true fashion the Mountain weather decided to show the team what challenges this project has faced over the past few years. With that we were forced to reduce the route and focus on Cairngorm itself.

Despite seeing all 4 seasons in one day around 15 of the Pick Everard team took to the hills and made it to the summit of Cairngorm. Walking back down we cleared banana skins, cigarette ends, tissues, wet wipes and a whole host of other nasties.

Cairngorm National Park is a truly beautiful place but it will only stay that way if we choose to look after it. There is a wealth of wildlife and natural beauty to be seen and it was a pleasure to support keeping the place this way.

Pick Everard have been supporting the Highlands and Islands Enterprise in the delivery of the funicular structural repairs to bring it back into service. It has been by far one of the most challenging projects given the environment, unique design and strict H&S requirements. It is with great pride that soon members of the public will once again be able to enjoy a short ride up to the summit to gaze upon this beautiful landscape and take inspiration.
