Being Pick Everard: Meet Muhammad Hassan Naqshbandi

3 Feb 2025

Since joining Pick Everard, Muhammad Hassan Naqshbandi has embraced the exciting opportunity to grow and lead a new Building Services team in London. Here, he discusses what made him choose a career in Building Services and what he's most excited about in his future role.

How has your experience been since joining Pick Everard / What attracted you to Pick Everard?

The opportunity to grow and lead a new Building Services team in London relatively early in my career is a rarity and one where I could work with former colleagues, was one I couldn’t pass up. It’s been great fun working at Pick Everard so far, lots of different projects and I’ve made a direct impact from my first day.

What made you choose a career as a Mechanical Engineer in Building Services?

We have a collective responsibility to tackle climate change. It’s predicted that by 2050, more than 50% of the world’s population will live in cities. In operation, buildings produce more than 30% of greenhouse gas emissions. As a Mechanical Engineer, I wanted to use my engineering skills to reduce built environment energy consumption as our cities grow.

What are you excited for in the future in your role?

The MEP team we have built so far is diverse, highly capable and experienced across a broad portfolio of sectors. We are winning increasing amounts of work and increasingly supporting our colleagues in other departments, highlighting the critical nature of the Mechanical and Electrical Engineers. This will strengthen our position as we expand into new sectors!

What advice would you give to someone looking to progress/develop in their career?

Get a mentor and get professional registration. These will be life-changing and help you gain Incorporated or Chartered Engineer titles, highly respected professional development and sought after accreditations. In the pursuit of EngTech, IEng or CEng, it will help identify where your knowledge and experience gaps are and give you a plan and direction. You’ll probably surprise yourself!
