Water engineering

Water engineering is the hidden infrastructure many don’t see, but we can’t live without it. Our communities rely on the solutions we design. Fundamentally important, we are passionate about our work with long standing clients to ensure the supply, management and safe disposal of water.

Whether we are assessing the capacity and risk of drainage works and distribution systems, designing multi-million pound treatment works, upgrading pumping stations, or resolving flood issues, our team of specialist engineers have earned an exceptional reputation for their knowledge and experience to deliver. The evolving complexities of water management ensure that we are continually exploring new engineering solutions that serve the needs of our communities now and in the future.

Our core services include; hydraulic modelling, surface water management, sewerage and sewage treatment, water treatment and distribution, and flood risk assessment.

Strategic Account Director

Our hydraulic modelling team is highly experienced in the modelling of distribution networks, drainage and sewerage systems and river and surface water flooding.

They are respected specialists who not only adopt the very latest industry software, but also fully engage with industry user groups, contribute cutting-edge papers and make innovative developments to the pool of knowledge.

By forging close collaborations between modellers and engineers, Pick Everard provides an enhanced modelling service that offers even more to our clients. We work with the philosophy of network risk management by using GIS tools alongside analytical packages.

Our services include:

  • Wastewater network modelling and analysis
  • Water distribution network modelling and analysis
  • Water quality and river impact modelling
  • Strategic bulk transfer modelling and analysis
  • Needs, risk, contingency and zonal analysis
  • Data management and analysis

Assessing and managing the risks associated with flooding and surface water runoff is becoming increasingly important as the impact of climate change advances.

At Pick Everard, we’re skilled in assessing and mitigating flood risk, using our expertise to help clients achieve flood resilience. This can range from protecting existing assets to providing the technical response required to secure planning approval for site development.

We are able to respond to the statutory requirements of a variety of flood risk assessments. These range from simple desk-top investigations of the impact of new developments, through more involved data gathering and analysis, to highly complex hydraulic modelling of the risks associated with flooding from watercourses, sewers, drainage systems and overland flow.

We also support clients working with quarrying and gravel extraction, helping them to meet surface water planning considerations. Our experienced team designs cost-effective, sustainable solutions that control and manage surface water runoff during both the extraction and restoration phases.

At Pick Everard, we’ve provided a wastewater treatment and sewerage consultancy service to the water industry since its formation in the 1970s. Our service supports four of the principal features of water company asset ownership: asset management, optimisation, creation and maintenance.

We have substantial expertise and experience in delivering new build and refurbishment schemes for wastewater and sludge treatment plants, from small package works to those serving populations of up to 1.75 million.

Our sewerage network project portfolio spans everything from minor network modifications to major pumped storage installations.

We believe in designing innovative, collaborative and holistic solutions that effectively meet the challenges of a whole range of clients. This includes using our knowledge to support local authorities concerned about flooding, or developers and property owners assessing the challenges of a particular site.

Pick Everard’s knowledge and experience of the water supply system runs right from the point of surface or groundwater abstraction, extending through treatment and disinfection to pumping, storage and distribution.

Our services include asset performance assessment, creating preferred solutions to indications of need, producing detailed designs, project management and commissioning.

We’re fully conversant with the water utility sector, its drivers and challenges. It’s a fascinating sector and we’re proud to say that our experience encompasses asset refurbishment and new build, working sensitively in the public realm and maintaining security around vulnerable assets.
