A Director at a leading property consultancy is celebrating becoming named a fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Alan Doherty, director of building surveying at Pick Everard’s London office, was awarded the FRICS title based on his demonstrable competency in key areas of management, qualifications, career achievements and services to RICS and the building surveying profession.
He said he hoped his achievement would enhance Pick Everard’s profile as a leading provider of high quality building surveying services.
“It is a key driver for the business to develop our staff and have highly qualified teams to service our clients. This is vital for the ongoing success of our business and for sustained growth” he added.
Alan has worked for Pick Everard since 2012 and in that time has been responsible for developing key client relationships, leading project teams and for mentoring surveyors from graduate to associate level.
In addition he is closely involved with RICS outside of work, supporting activities to improve professional standards and encourage others into the industry.
He said: “I am active in training surveyors and I act as an ambassador to the building surveying profession by taking part in activities to promote it as a career path.
“One of my key ambitions is to encourage more people into building surveying and offer opportunities to graduates from other backgrounds to pursue a career in the property and construction industry.”
Other work which earned Alan his fellowship included development of national scopes of services available for use by all RICS members for various project roles, and acting as an expert building surveying advisor for an Independent Compensation Panel.
He said: “To put something back into the industry is extremely rewarding and hopefully my contribution will encourage and assist other individuals to maintain consistency and high standards.”
