The University wanted to build an architecturally striking Teaching and Learning building within a fixed budget. Completion by September 2016 was a key requirement.
Featuring seminar rooms, learning spaces, and a 500-seat lecture theatre, the new facility had to be operational by September 2016 and achieve a BREEAM rating of Excellent. The project required close management to achieve the desired design and build quality within a tight timescale and budget.
To streamline the design process we undertook a detailed stakeholder mapping exercise, outlining internal and external groups and defining communication channels to enable effective engagement. Our team worked closely with the architect and contractor for the build to identify opportunities for value engineering, allowing us to address issues before they impacted the project.
- Reduced the price of the project by £1m without compromising build quality with a two-week redesign of the scheme.
- Maintained key stakeholder interest and momentum with weekly meetings.
- Highly commended at the NEC Awards for Large Project of the Year
