Pick Everard was commissioned by the University of Manchester to create a synthetic chemistry laboratory, providing a new teaching and research facility within their existing chemistry building.
We were asked to convert and refurbish an existing laboratory, creating a large, open-plan specialist synthetic chemistry lab with fume cupboards and bench space.
The client also required three open-plan support lab areas with fume cupboards, three offices for academic and administrative use, and an open-plan write-up space for 32 people, with AV facilities for meetings and presentations.
We held a design workshop with the lab’s end users to find out what they needed from the space and make sure we could their requirements.
We then coordinated closely with lab equipment specialists and used innovative space planning to create an future-proof environment capable of expansion. We also integrated existing services into our design to make it more cost effective.
- We created a state-of-the-art, flexible laboratory space.
- We achieved excellent results with a strong, integrated team.
- We used innovative programming to meet the complex brief.
