Conversion and redevelopment of a grade II listed fire station into 6th form college.
The brief was to convert and redevelop a old grade II listed fire station into a 6th form college. The convertion had to retain a lot of the history and features of the building, including the garage doors, old signage elements and the firemans pole. However making sure all modern facilities were included.
The interiors team created a scheme with a sympathetic touch. Original features retained, hints of the colour red were added throughout the building as a reminder of the buildings original use. A new glazed atrium and staircase was added to create a new space and accentuate elements of the old and new.
- Creating a stimulating vibrant space for study.
- Establishing the colleges brand identity whilst retaining and complimenting the original features.
- Retaining and working with original features.
- Working to grade II listed buildings restrictions.
