We were commissioned for this mixed-use development that incorporates a supermarket, library, community centre and small theatre on a very compact site in a densely populated area.
We were asked to design a high-quality building with both surface and covered car parking. A major requirement was to produce a design that could be built in phases to allow uninterrupted use of the existing community facilities, which the new building was designed to replace.
The result was a stunning new building using a multilevel solution to create a sensitive and highly acclaimed elevational design. The result makes a positive contribution to the town centre.
- We created a clever plan which allowed uninterrupted use of the existing facilities.
- Good communication and close consultation with an initially hostile local residents’ association resulted in a very positive outcome.
