Complete strip-out and refurbishment of an existing local authority owned building with little historic pre-construction information available. We liaised closely with all parties to deliver this project on time with considerable savings made.
We were commissioned for multi-professional design and management of delivery of this project, working for Leicester City Council as our client to prepare the building for occupation by IBM. The work consisted of refurbishment and remodelling spread out over two phases; strip out and demolition, followed by office fit-out. The site’s limited pre-construction information meant a full site survey was necessary.
The discovery of asbestos during the site survey led us to employ specialist contractors with suitable asbestos awareness training. By proactively seeking meetings with all involved parties we forged strong relationships, allowing the project to progress quickly. We worked collaboratively with IBM’s designers to meet their strict internal branding and workplace policies.
- Liaised directly with IBM, with support from the council.
- Worked closely with IBM’s Cost Manager to understand their US-standard specification and suggested changes that resulted in major savings.
