The Hinckley site is home to National Grid, Gas Distribution. The site supports a telephone call centre as well as the network operations that support four gas distribution networks in the West Midlands, North West, East of England and North London.
These offices underwent a Smart Work Space transformation during 2014 creating an environment that enhanced the working environment for National Grid’s staff. The scheme was programmed over various phases to include the refurbishment of existing office space and catering facilities, followed by the addition of a glazed entrance and re-modelled foyer. Finally the building was recladded and branded to complete the transformation.
The construction was carried out on a “live” site with National Grid staff occupying the building which remained in use for the duration of the works. Meticulous planning and regular meetings were scheduled by our CDM-Cs to ensure the successful completion of this scheme. We worked collaboratively as a project team to ensure National Grid’s positive health and safety culture was maintained.
· The Construction Site achieved zero RIDDOR or reportable accidents/incidents.
· The HSE attended site and no HSE Improvement or Enforcement Notices were issued.
· Independent site safety audits carried out by Pick Everard achieved a high safety score..
