Pick Everard was contracted to manage design and delivery of the new Isaac Newton Building; including engineering workshops, teaching areas and welfare facilities.
We acted as Quantity Surveyor on behalf of the University, reporting to the Project Manager and helping to deliver the scheme from inception through to completion. Due to changing conditions within the University there were strict budget limitations, requiring us to identify cost savings whilst maintaining quality expectations.
Working closely with the Project Manager, we formed a project brief and reviewed the available procurement options as part of regular client/design team meetings. We were able to value engineer elements of the project to bring the cost back within budget, whilst still adhering to the initial brief.
- We assigned a Quantity Surveyor with strong knowledge of both JCT and NEC3 contracts who could advise the client effectively throughout the project
- Identified cost savings including £22k from an alternative window manufacturer and £50k from a different choice of Building Management System
