Pick Everard was engaged following recommendation from another police service to deliver two stage of the art custody centres at Bridgend and Merthyr Tydfil.
The two new centres were developed to enable quicker processing of detainees, enabling police officers to get back on the streets quicker after an arrest. Each centre is equipped with 42 cells, as well as walk-in public inquiry facilities and adjoining Grade A offices
Using the Scape collaborative procurement route enabled us to bring a contractor and design team on board from day one, developing both sites in parallel. The extensive experience we brought from 5 other custody centres, delivered for other police services during the previous 12 months, ensured the highest levels of technical governance were delivered by our management team.
- Delivery of the facility enables the police to rationalise custody locations from 16 to four.
- Each centre has over 250 centrally controlled microphones and cameras to ensure the highest levels of detainee and officer safety is maintained.
