The project is the remediation of a brownfield site and restoration to an activities based woodland.  The slightly contaminated site had lain derelict for over 50 years and the development will include the creation of a new woodland park incorporating a range of path, recreational areas and outdoor pursuit facilities.  Cuningar Loop is a Commonwealth Games 2014 Legacy project and the multi-purpose facilities provided will help people of all abilities get more active and live healthier lives and generally contribute to their overall wellbeing.

The Brief

Pick Everard was brought in to drive the project forward as costs and programming were ‘drifting’ and in a short time frame a planning application was lodged, a revised remediation strategy was produced, enabling works contract was let and a Contractor brought on board to deliver the main works.

The recreation facilities provided within this project include; the first bouldering facility in Scotland, Trim (Outdoor Gym) Trail, Outdoor Natural Play Area Classrooms and a Bike Pump Track.

Our Response

In a collaborative approach environment Pick Everard with the Project Stakeholders were able to bring the project back onto programme.  Also with cost savings made in delivery, this has allowed provision of enhanced amenity facilities.
