We have designed a new gateway business park development on the edge of Market Harborough.

The brief

We had to create a strong, unified architectural treatment that provided consistency in the building forms and materials to reflect the countryside setting.

Our response

The two-storey office units are the first phase to be designed, reflecting the edge-of-town location. Dedicated pedestrian and cycle routes allow occupiers to enjoy the countryside environment, while the architectural principles against the backdrop of the landscape give the park its distinctive character.

Constructed to load-bearing masonry principles, the buildings were designed using a palette of materials, colours and textures that create a contemporary feel, but still in keeping with the location’s character.

The buildings are finished with facing brickwork, rendered panels and stained cedar boarding. The pitched roofs are a concrete plain tile.

Key facts

  • Designed in keeping with the open, edge-of-town location.
  • One of the occupier’s auditors said the office was the best working environment he had seen.
