Pick Everard was appointed to carry out a complex Transport Assessment and junction design and modelling for a new development of 350 new homes in Derbyshire. The study was commissioned to support the planning application for the development.
The client’s brief required us to assess development impact on local highway junctions and M1 junction 30, prepare outline design and modelling of proposed site access and improvement options for existing junctions, assess potential for use of sustainable modes of transport to and from the site and provide transport advice regarding proposed development layout for all transport modes.
We led a constructive liaison with the Local Highway Authority and the Highways Agency to ensure their full buy in to proposals was achieved.
The junction improvements were designed in very constrained location, and through extensive and thorough traffic modelling carried out, a very cost effective solution was delivered for the client.
- The highway authorities had significant concerns, but all were addressed in the Transport Assessment.
- Successfully secured planning consent.
