The London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames commissioned us to deliver additional space for 14-19 diploma and SEN students at four of its schools.
Extensions to each school needed to be designed and implemented, with masterplans put in place to protect future expansion opportunities. The schools also needed modern frontages and the project required careful management to minimise impact while the school remained open.
We initiated early, detailed consultation with the client and stakeholders, developing an in-depth understanding of the site constraints so we could create a design incorporating the schools’ specific ethos. This enabled us to provide excellent, flexible and inspiring accommodation on a tight budget, as well as giving each school a bright new frontage, improving their image.
- We used innovative design and construction to maximise existing floor space.
- We developed best-value solutions, avoiding the need for temporary accommodation, minimising disruption and improving longevity.
- We delivered a 4.3% cost reduction, demonstrated through iESE cost-time benefit’ reports.
- We completed the project four weeks ahead of schedule.
