A new landmark Head office and fire station development on a greenfield site, to replace an ageing and inefficient Headquarters building that was no longer fit for purpose.

The Brief
The brief called for a high quality design solution incorporating distinctive architecture with an energy efficient building which would bring together the Fire Services fragmented support and admin staff in a centralised location. The new fire station had to include living and sleeping accommodation to enable efficiencies to be made through a new Day Crew Plus duty system of working for the firefighters.

The Team’s Response
The HQ building provides an open plan office facility incorporating a full height glazed 3 storey atrium area with adjoining meeting rooms and break out areas. The site layout positions the new fire station at the opposite end of the rectangular site to the HQ with parking for staff and visitors occupying the space in between.
