Rushmere Shopping Centre
A little retail therapy from Pick Everard transforms mall into number one fashion outlet
THE PROJECT: It’s amazing what a little creative prowess can do for a place – and thanks to Pick Everard, Craigavon’s Rushmere shopping centre is now the top retail destination of choice for visitors from all over Northern and Southern Ireland.
Pick Everard’s design approach over a period of thirteen years has transformed the once-underperforming, 1970s shopping centre. The 2004 South Extension added 16 new units to accommodate some of the UK’s top fashion retail brands, including Topshop, HMV, H&M, and an 80,000 square feet flagship Debenhams store. Completed in just 15 months, the 150,000 square feet extended centre also added extra 400 car parking spaces and a link to a nearby retail park also designed by the Pick Everard team, which includes among others JJB Sport, MacDonald’s, Next and Matalan. Pick Everard is currently involved in designs for further development being planned for the East Extension.
PICK EVERARD’S ROLE: Architectural design of extension, shopping mall interiors and individual outlets
