Norwich Union Customer Service Centre

Working against the clock to deliver £9 million call centre

THE PROJECT: When Strathkelvin Development Company originally contracted Pick Everard; the initial intention was for the redevelopment of a brownfield site in East Dunbartonshire. But when the brief suddenly changed from industrial to commercial development, the goalposts were moved dramatically. What had started out as a relatively straightforward project suddenly became a major remediation and enabling challenge. Before work could even begin, the site needed £1.5million of preparation work, including re-contouring, following the removal of an extensive 1.5m-deep layer of underground concrete. The impressive, end result is a 100-metre by 80-metre customer service centre for Norwich Union, with 1,000 staff, 380 car parking spaces and spectacular views over Kelvin Valley and Campsie Fells
