Hospital projects maintain healthcare momentum for Pick Everard
Pick Everard has been appointed as Project Manager and Supervisor on a £10m Younger Adult Inpatient accommodation scheme at St Martin’s Hospital, Canterbury.
Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust will provide two purpose-built, 18-bed wards and supporting accommodation for younger adult mental health patients. The new-build project on the existing hospital site is due to open in late 2012, is being delivered through the Procure 21 procurement route with principal supply chain partner Kier Southern.
Appointed under the Buying Solutions Project Management and Full Design Team Services framework agreement, Pick Everard’s integrated team, which includes construction consultancy Baqus Group will provide project management and project administrator services. Pick Everard is also working on a travel plan to assess impact on site traffic. The Pick Everard integrated team has also worked on a mental health redevelopment scheme for Heathside House, Coxheath and is providing input into the feasibility of potential schemes at Sevenoaks Hospital and Medway Hospital.
Adrian Ceney, Pick Everard team leader is delighted to be involved in another partnership project. “The team has substantial expertise and has worked alongside the Trust recently on some interesting projects. The St Martin’s development is ideally suited to our project management skills and continues our successful working relationship with Kent and Medway Trust.”
Pick Everard is also working elsewhere in Kent, providing multi-disciplinary services on a £900,000 refurbishment of two community health centres in Dartford for NHS West Kent. New facilities include a new, two surgery dental suite, designed to comply with the latest infection control guidance, with dedicated decontamination rooms for processing dental instruments and special equipment for treatment of bariatric and wheelchair bound patients. Contractor Sutherland Building Services is carrying out the work while buildings are being used, and so close collaboration with all stakeholders has been required to minimise disruption.
Pick Everard is working on a number of healthcare projects nationwide. The Glasgow office has recently been appointed by NHS Quality Improvement Scotland to carry out a storage audit and workspace utilisation study to inform future requirements in Edinburgh and Glasgow, providing further flexibility, improving effectiveness and managing capacity constraints.
