Pick Everard leading the way in ‘green shoots’ of housing revival
House building is back on the move, with Pick Everard highways engineering design at the forefront of new projects for high quality developer Cannon Kirk Homes.
The nationwide architectural and engineering design practice is leading the field using specialist highways and drainage expertise for Cannon Kirk Homes’ construction in the east of England, as optimism returns to the housing market.
The spring launch of new homes at Caistor, Lincolnshire and Littleport near Ely, plus the imminent start of groundworks at March, Cambridgeshire, are well timed for rising demand, with property experts predicting a post-election bounce in the market.
Pick Everard’s unique, multi-disciplinary approach covers every aspect of road and infrastructure planning and implementation, focusing on sustainability. The firm has worked closely with Cannon Kirk Homes for over ten years, designing the infrastructure to pave the way for the developer’s hallmark, high quality housing schemes.
Pick Everard partner Duncan Green is leading the team of civil and structural engineers working with Cannon Kirk Homes and said building is currently underway at Cannon Kirk’s Highfields, Littleport development, with the launch of Phase 3 showhomes (May 22).
“This scheme is an excellent example of innovative design, which we’ve been involved in from initial site assessment, through every aspect of necessary infrastructure design, to allow Canon Kirk to successfully develop the site.”
Showhomes have also recently been released at Romans Walk, Cannon Kirk’s Caistor development in the Lincolnshire Wolds, which will ultimately comprise 148 houses. Duncan Green adds, “Our work here is essential to ensure that the requirements of local authorities are met while at the same time allowing Cannon Kirk to commence an inspirational and class leading housing development”.
Initial work is set to begin this summer on Gaul Road, at March, Cambridgeshire, a 135-home Cannon Kirk scheme involving Pick Everard in major off-site roadworks and the design of comprehensive drainage solutions. Further sites are also scheduled for the near future.
Michael Broughton, Chief Executive Officer of Cannon Kirk Homes, said the housing market remains both tough and complex, but is beginning to make progress. “It is encouraging that we have been able to start new development. This has allowed us to continue our long-term association with Pick Everard, whose design engineers perform an integral part of our work. As banks begin to free up mortgages it is important to take the initiative and get work underway. I am optimistic that there will be more and more movement as each month goes by.”
