Following successful collaboration on recent projects, architectural and engineering practice Pick Everard has announced the acquisition of highly respected Derby architectural practice Rothera Goodwin. New jobs will be created as a result of the merger - staff will be recruited for both Rothera Goodwin’s Derby and London offices. Harvey Ingram LLP and PKF were professional advisors.

Established in Leicester in 1866, Pick Everard is one of the UK’s leading independent, multi-professional design practices with over 300 architects, consulting engineers, surveyors and project managers, and offices throughout the UK and in Ireland. The merger will allow Pick Everard to expand its base in the East Midlands and in London and benefit from Rothera Goodwin’s excellent reputation among its clients which include Honda and Pendragon.

Founded in 1966, Rothera Goodwin has a staff of 15, based in Derby city centre’s cathedral quarter and in London. Paul Rothera and Ian Goodwin have welcomed the acquisition by Pick Everard, which provides an opportunity to offer comprehensive multi-disciplinary design services to clients and to expand. The firm will continue to trade as Rothera Goodwin and there will be no changes to the current management team.

“Both practices have similar values and aspirations. We look forward to building on Rothera Goodwin’s successful history and established reputation and to strengthening our position in the region.” said David Brunton, managing partner at Pick Everard.

Mark Plampin, corporate finance partner at PKF in the East Midlands, advised Pick Everard on the deal. He said:   “The collaboration with Rothera Goodwin is a great commercial move for both practices, that will strengthen client relationships and present new opportunities in an increasingly competitive market for architectural services. PKF's recent experience in the sector is that quality practices are achieving impressive growth and the strategy to compliment this by combining forces with like minded businesses is a sound one."

Roy Botterill, partner at law firm Harvey Ingram LLP also commented, “We were delighted to help Pick Everard on this project and even more pleased that Pick Everard, together with Rothera Goodwin is growing and going from strength to strength.”
