New Part L 2010
From October 1, new Part L 2010 rules substantially change energy and CO2 emission targets, in line with the government’s strategy towards zero carbon buildings.
While there’s still a focus on CO2 reduction, energy efficiency becomes much more important.
What are the main changes?
· Calculations and specifications will also be required before construction starts
· New buildings to achieve a further 25% CO2 reduction (on average)
· New limits on solar heat gain assessments for all buildings
· Designing to minimum requirements is likely, in practice, to result in non-compliance
Pick Everard is well prepared for the challenges that Part L 2010 compliance brings and can offer advice to clients, contractors, architects and engineers as to suitability and efficiency of approach.
